There are many places to find various material resources, but stable, loving relationships are hard to come by. For many of us, the Carpenter's community is our primary experience of family and friendship. Carpenter's Day Shelter is open to the public and anyone is welcome to come hang out and get involved in the life of the community.
We offer a variety of classes throughout the week, from Bible Studies to Anger Management to Art Classes, all are intended to help revive our passions and better our lives. Classes are open to the public and are offered Mon-Thurs at 10am and 2pm, and Fridays at 10am. For a complete class schedule see our Meeting Times page.
Carpenter's provides numerous resources including a free public phone, mailbox, transportation, help with acquisition of vital records and a wide variety of personal assistance catered to individual needs. Our staff help people connect with outside resources. We also partner with organizations offering services such as medical assistance on site.
Carpenter's offers the only free showers open daily to the public in Lubbock. Many of our friends on the streets depend on our showers and personal hygiene resources. We collect and distribute travel size hygiene items including: deodorant, razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene, etc.. Please contact us if you would like to donate hygiene items.
Having a secure place to store one's belongings is an important resource for all of us and a huge help for our friends on the streets. Carrying a backpack and sleeping bag to work or stashing them behind a dumpster are lousy options. With a locker our friends are confident leaving their belongings safe and dry while they carry out the business of the day.
